Getting Started
This kit requires you to solder the two speaker contacts.
Required Tool and Parts
- Tweezers
- J1 (Japanese Industrial Standard) Screwdriver
- Y1 Tri-point screwdriver
Take Inventory
Ensure you have all the parts included with your kit. See below:
HISPEEDIDO DMG IPS LCD Q5 Includes:
- IPS LCD
- Display module
- Flex cable for connecting to old back pcb
- Adhesive mounting strip
- Aligning bracket
Shell Modifications
This mod requires you to flush cut two of the screw holes on the front half of the shell.
A Funnyplaying shell was used in this guide which will have the viewing window pre-cut for the Q5 LCD. For all other shells. you will need to remove 1mm of plastic around the window of the shell:
Installation
The first thing to do is to put the screen into the screen alignment bracket
Next we will want to connect the control board along the back of the bracket
From here we can drop the display and its alignment bracket into place
Next up is the soldering of the speaker wires, polarity does not matter
Drop your new button PCB on top of the display and connect your ribbon cable before screwing the board down
The final step is connecting the big press fit ribbon cable, it will require some delicate force in order to seat int properly
From here you can button up your console and give it a test!
